Dr Richard Skone appointed Interim Deputy Medical Director at Velindre University NHS Trust.

Congratulations to Dr Richard Skone who has been appointed Interim Deputy Medical Director at Velindre University NHS Trust.

Richard will be on secondment into the position from Cardiff and Vale University Health Board to support Velindre's ‘Trust Quality and Safety agenda’, specifically supporting the transformation of the clinical model for blood and cancer services while retaining his existing clinical duties and support to the Medical Director's Office here at Cardiff and Vale UHB.

Speaking about his new role, Richard said:

“I am truly looking forward to joining the team as Deputy Medical Director.  Over the last decade I have had the privilege of working with different areas within Velindre University NHS Trust. I am proud to formally be joining such a highly thought of organisation.”

David Fluck, Medical Director at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said:

“I’d like to congratulate Richard on his recent secondment opportunity as Medical Director with Velindre University NHS Trust.

Richard is a much liked colleague here at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and the experience and support he has provided personally to myself and the wider organisation as Interim Medical Director has been immensurable.

He has worked extensively with Consultant Bodies, Royal Colleges and clinical colleagues in partnership across a range of projects and programmes of work whilst still fulfilling many of his clinical duties.

Richard will be instrumental in strengthening the direction of regional and local clinical relationships and patient pathways.

I will look forward to continuing to work alongside Richard and wish him every success”.
