Nurses are the largest staff group in the NHS and play a vital role in delivering hands-on patient care as part of multidisciplinary teams. They support people of all ages and backgrounds across a variety of settings — from hospital wards and operating theatres to Emergency Departments, schools, prisons, and patients’ homes.

There are many different types of nurses, including Adult, Children’s, District, General Practice, Learning Disability, Mental Health, Neonatal, Occupational Health, Prison, and Theatre Nurses.

Training begins in one of the four core fields of nursing: Adult, Children’s, Learning Disabilities, or Mental Health. From there, nurses can choose from a wide range of career paths and specialist roles.

If you’re caring, compassionate, and committed to making a difference, there’s a nursing role out there for you.
