Transport Plan

As work progresses on the new Rhydlafar Surgery, we recognise that access and transport were important issues for many residents. During engagement, this was one of the most frequently raised concerns.

It was recognised that accessing Rhydlafar may be difficult for those living outside of Rhydlafar, so the Health Board, practice colleagues, Community Councils and Resident Group Representatives met to discuss and agree how the problem could be overcome. This work ensured that no one would be disadvantaged in terms of accessing healthcare services.

It was agreed that the Health Board would facilitate a taxi service for these individuals which operated under existing Health Board Service Level Arrangement (SLA). Access to the service will be managed by the practice and will be based on ‘eligibility’ for an initial 12-month period to quantify demand and will inform a longer-term community transport solution.
