Professor Steve Riley is the Pro-Vice Chancellor for the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences at Cardiff University and an Independent Member of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. He is a Clinical Academic having graduated from University of Wales College of Medicine and completing his training in Wales as a Nephrologist and General Physician. As an Honorary Consultant Nephrologist, he has worked within the Directorate of Nephrology and Transplantation in CAVUHB for over 20 years and still has a weekly Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic.
He has previously been the Dean of Medical Education and Head of the School of Medicine at Cardiff University. He helped design and implement the innovative C21 Undergraduate Medicine Curriculum and more recently has been involved with planning and initiating the North Wales Medical School using the C21 Curriculum model.
More recently the role of PVC and Independent Member has focussed on bringing universities and the NHS more closely together to achieve better outcomes for the future generations in Wales. There are important and exciting discussions on-going to make the most of the excellence in research, education and clinical care delivery in South Wales and Wales more broadly.
