Independent Member - Local Authority

Susan is a Councillor for Vale of Glamorgan Council and in addition to various committee roles is the Council’s Tackling Poverty Champion.    

Susan was formerly the Network Lead for the Trussell Trust in Wales, leading on policy and public affairs and Co-Chaired Wales anti-poverty alliance. She has developed a number of community focused initiatives which aim to mitigate the impact of poverty and inequality, including the Vale Foodbank and is currently the Chair of Trustees for Coastlands CIO.  

Susan has a background in social care, having spent over 20 years in developing, managing and commissioning social care services and jointly commissioning with health. She is passionate about improving the interface between health and social care and ensuring the lived experience of patients and carers drives services.   

Susan is married with two adult children, lives in Barry and is caring for a number of elderly relatives.
