About Me

independent Member - Third Sector

Judi was born and raised in South Wales, where she also brought up her family. She started her career in the NHS, working in the South Wales valleys, before moving into higher education, first at the Open University and then Cardiff University. Judi has worked in the third sector since 2006 in various senior leadership roles in health and social care charities, and as a CEO since 2013. Her last CEO role was at the Wales-based charity, Tenovus Cancer Care, and during this time, she was also Chair of the Less Survivable Cancer Taskforce in Wales.

Judi is currently Chair of Community Foundation Wales and has held a number of other charity trustee roles, including at Samaritans Cymru and Alzheimer’s Society. She was an Independent Member at Public Health Wales until 2022 and a Non-Executive Director at Sport Wales until 2025. Most of Judi’s career has been focussed on tackling the inequalities people face in health, social care and education. In the New Year Honours list of 2021, Judi was awarded MBE for services to the voluntary sector.

Outside work, Judi is a keen and competitive long distance runner, both surprised and delighted to have been selected to run for Wales several times in her age category.
