Information, Technology and Governance Sub-Committee

The purpose of the Information, Technology and Governance Sub-Committee is to provide assurance to the Board that:

• Clinical Boards and Corporate Services have appropriate processes and systems in place for data, information management and governance to allow the UHB to meet its stated objectives, legislative responsibilities and any relevant requirements and standards determined for the NHS in Wales.
• There is continuous improvement in relation to information governance within the UHB and that risks arising from this are being managed appropriately.
• Information management and technology (IM & T) services are safe and sustainable and that risks are being assessed and managed.
• Effective advice, communication, engagement and training is in place across the UHB for Information Governance and IM & T.
• That appropriate strategies are overseen and delivered to support the delivery of the UHB Integrated Medium Term Plan, maintaining effective stakeholder relationships and harnessing innovative technology and information for use in decision making.

The full role of the Committee is detailed in the draft Terms of Reference. It reports to the Strategy and Delivery Committee.

The Committee was convened after the former Information Management and Technology and Information Governance sub-committees were merged. Economies of scale have been achieved because there is a now a single forum for discussing some subjects that hitherto were relevant to two committees.
