Diabetic Inpatient Services

University Hospital of Wales (UHW)

• Three consultants have inpatient beds at the University Hospital of Wales.
• Currently Diabetes is based on Ward C5.
• Inpatient medical review via written consultation slip. 
• Faxed referrals are not accepted. Referrals are made through the e-advice & comms referral system.

Inpatient diabetes specialist nursing service

• There is an Inpatient Diabetes Specialist Nurse.
• University Hospital of Wales accept faxed referrals only.
• Service provision will include Rookwood until it moves to UHL.

University Hospital Llandough(UHL)

• UHL has four consultants 
• There is one diabetes specialist nurse covering patients at any time
• Diabetes is currently based on Ward E4.
• Inpatient medical review via written consultation slip.
• Faxed referrals are not accepted. Referrals are made through the e-advice & comms referral system

Inpatient Diabetes Specialist Nursing Service

• Two Inpatient Diabetes Nurse Educators.
• Llandough accept faxed referrals only.
• A service is provided to all UHL adult wards, Hafan-y-coed, Barry Hospital and Rookwood when the hospital moves premises.
