Cardiff and the Vale Regional Safeguarding Children Board (RSCB)

The Regional Safeguarding Children Board (RSCB) is a Multi-Agency Partnership that has responsibility for working together to oversee the safety and well-being of children and young people throughout Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

This website provides information, advice and guidance to the public, children, young people, parents & carers and professionals whose work brings them into contact with children and their families.

The website is designed to help agencies, organisations and individuals working with children, including families and parents as well as members of the wider community, to help keep our children and young people safe.

What is safeguarding?

Everyone has a responsibility for safeguarding children. Every child can be hurt, put at risk of harm or abused, regardless of their age, gender, religion or ethnicity. Safeguarding legislation and government guidance says that safeguarding means:

  • protecting children from maltreatment
  • preventing impairment of children’s health or development
  • ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
