Dietetic Team at the Cystic Fibrosis Centre Your dietetic team consists of 2 full time Specialist CF Dietitians, Meenu and David with support from our ever resourceful dietetic assistant, Beata.

What is a Dietitian?

Nutrition plays a vital role in the health of people who have CF. Dietitians are the only qualified health professionals that assess, diagnose and treat dietary and nutritional problems.

How Can We Help You?

We provide nutritional advice and information to all inpatients and outpatients with CF.

We aim to help patients in the self management of all aspects of their nutritional needs, providing nutritional advice and support (including written advice you can take away with you) on the following topics.

Body composition Machine Hand grip strength machine

  • We assess and can provide nutritional treatment plans to help patients achieve a healthy body weight to maximise and maintain lung function.
  • We can assess body composition (e.g. muscle and body fat levels) using specialist machines and can provide nutritional action plans to help you achieve healthy levels.
  • Assess pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy, providing advice on correct dosage of enzymes in relation to food intake.
  • Monitor and advise on fat soluble vitamin therapy and salt supplementation.
  • Advice and support in managing CF related diabetes.
  • Nutritional advice for healthy bones.
  • Nutritional advice for female patients wishing to conceive and offer antenatal advice to help achieve optimal nutrition at this time.
