We are developing a new Wellbeing Hub for Penarth. It will be the first Wellbeing Hub in the Vale of Glamorgan.
We were very pleased to hear the announcement on 6 December 2017 by Welsh Government that the Minister for Health and Social Services has identified funding for the Wellbeing Hub@Penarth. We submitted the second Outline Business Case to Welsh Government and it is being scrutinised. Construction will be subject to the agreement of successful Full Business Cases we are now developing and the expectation is that all schemes will be delivered before the end of 2021.
Vaughan Gething said: “People in the 21st Century expect to be treated in modern, advanced health care centres that deliver a wide range of services all under one roof. We agree and by targeting investment in this way it is hoped that opportunities for delivering service change can be delivered upon.
“We’re funding the future of healthcare in Wales and the pipeline of projects I’m announcing today will make a significant difference to the care people receive closer to home in their communities.”
We have plans to develop more Wellbeing Hubs and also a Health and Wellbeing Centre@Barry by transforming the Community Hospital on Colcot Road, Barry in the next phase of the Shaping Our Future Wellbeing: In Our Community programme.
Please check back as we will be updating the site as the plans develop. In the meantime, please take a look at our other Wellbeing Hub projects.
We are doing Equality and Health Impact Assessments (EHIA) when developing these plans. This will make sure that we have considered the impact on people with protected characteristics and meet the statutory and mandatory requirements including those of the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act that places a wellbeing duty on public bodies in Wales.
We are engaging with stakeholders as we implement the Shaping Our Future Wellbeing Strategy. We know that significant engagement has already been undertaken, the outcomes of which continue to shape our plans to transform the way we deliver services within our communities.
